Pamoja Online Course Student Permissions Updated
October 15, 2020
Schools may now choose if they wish to allow students to submit Pamoja Online Course requests or not in their Plans worksheets. To access this permission toggle, go to Settings > School Settings > Global ResourceBank & Pamoja. From here, student access can be enabled or disabled under the Pamoja Online Courses header.
This change was made to allow greater control by the IB Diploma Coordinator, if they wish to register the students via ManageBac for Pamoja Online Courses themselves, instead of the students making the request on their end.
Enhanced Student Engagement Analytics for Remote Learning
October 13, 2020
Tracking engagement, especially during remote or hybrid learning, is critical to ensuring the success of students. With our Engagement Analytics you are able to quickly get a high level overview of all the students and where they are in terms of their engagement with learning, based on their activities in ManageBac. You will be able to quickly identify those who are in need of intervention and direct reach out.
The analytics allow you to see how many tasks and lessons have been completed along with last login, attendance and more coming soon. Based on these data, students will be identified in one of four categories, allowing easy identification for who needs immediate support, who needs come guidance and who is highly engaged with their learning.
Engagement Analytics will support teachers, administration and counselors as they work hard to support student learning. By tracking the analytics through actual student work within ManageBac, it removes the need to manually identify and provides the real time data needed to plan the best learning experience for students.
Engagement Analytics can be found via the Engagement Analytics tab on your admin user Dashboard left menu.
- Programme: Select the academic programme at the top of the page, such as IB Diploma.
- User Type: In future, additional user types will be available, for now, this defaults to Students.
- Term: Filter for a particular Academic Term at the top-right dropdown.
Find the full details and information our Student Engagement Analytics Guide.
Teacher and Student Profiles have updated look and layout
October 12, 2020
The student profile page now provides quick access to the student’s Portfolio and programme-specific worksheets.

New programme-specific tiles have also been added to the student profile page. These tiles will provide recent updates to the programme components, like CAS, EE or SA and Personal Project. These tiles also provide students with a quick way to navigate into these different sections.
The teacher profile page has been updated to provide a more organized overview of the teacher’s personal and professional information. Teachers are now able to access their Classes and Groups directly from the Profile on the right navigation panel of that.
Additionally, a new Access & Permissions section has been added to the teacher profile page. This section provides admins a quick and convenient way to view and edit teacher permissions.

Vantage Reader Enhancements
August 26, 2020
In July, we introduced the new ManageBac Viewer & Annotation engine designed to enhance assessment feedback universally.
The ManageBac Viewer & Annotation engine contains a Document Editor Feature and gives educators the ability to export to PDF, annotate with different formatting and add comments for feedback & recommendations:
Further release updates include:

- Document Editor: Our Document Editor allows you to rotate, re-order and edit documents seamlessly.

MYP Curriculum Updates for Mathematics and Language Acquisition
August 19, 2020
We are happy to announce that Mathematics and Language Acquisition subject guide updates have rolled out in ManageBac. Mathematics units will show updated Math Related Concepts.
The updates for MYP Language Acquisition subjects were a bit more extensive, e.g. updated Criteria titles and Objectives, and are now also available on your ManageBac account! There is no need for further action on your end, the new criteria are now visible on Tasks as well as in the Unit Planner within the 'Aims & Objectives' section.
Unit view: (screenshot)
i) Can I revert back to the old criteria?
If you wish to revert back to the old criteria, please reach out to our Support Team via email@example.com and we can help revert back for Language Acquisition Subjects for all MYP year levels.
ii) How come I am not seeing the updated criteria?
If you do not see the updated criteria descriptors, it is because your school previously had customised its Language Acquisition criteria descriptors and we did not override these. To switch to the updated criteria now, any administrator can go to Settings > Middle Years > Assessment > Criteria. Select the appropriate subject from the dropdown menu at the top of the page. Finally, click Reset to subject group defaults on the right-hand side to update. You will need to do this for every objective/criteria (A-D) separately, as the “Reset to subject defaults” only applies to the specific criterion currently selected. The Criteria titles have been updated to the new titles automatically.
Note that any existing custom criteria and objectives for these subjects will be overwritten by the subject defaults. We also recommend exporting any existing grades to excel from your class gradebooks before enacting the changes, for historical reference. This can be done by each teacher on a class-by-class basis by going to Gradebook > Tasks > click Export Task Grades.
